Interview with Roy Duenas - Part 3
Choose a Pre-qualified Business Tom: So we've made the decision talked with the family we are keen to come as a group. We've identified the fact that we are going to be a bit more flexible in where to locate. A real key issue is to make sure you get the right business that you can build the family around. So it's part of the family as opposed to something that would have a lot to do with living near Mickey Mouse. So what types of business can we be looking at or what types of businesses should we not be looking at? Roy: Before you start looking for a business you need to set a time frame. Do we want to do this over the summer, by summer, by the end of the year, or over the next two years? Once you have that defined you can call and select a business broker who has a lot of experience, proven experience, with British buyers. You have to ask them how many deals have you done for British buyers? Do you understand the E2 visa law? Do you understand law at all? Because there is going to be a lot of law involved in this and selecting a business and doing the due diligence for the business. Your broker has to know what he is doing, otherwise he is just going to show you... Let me use an analogy here: a used car, you try it out, you like it, you buy it, it's up to you if it breaks down later. It's up to you. You have to have a business broker that has done due diligence on those particular businesses and pre-qualified them. You begin by selecting from pre-qualified businesses that will meet E2 visa standards. |
